William Hurst - 6 Regent Terrace

William Hurst was born in 1787, his father being the landlord of the Salutation Inn. 
William Hurst was articled, as a young man, to a respected local architect, William Lindley, of the Pillared Houses, South Parade.   Together with his partners, John Woodhead, and later, William Lambie Moffatt, he made important contributions to both town and country.   
Achievements included Christ Church, the Subscription Rooms, a new street called Priory Place and almost certainly the houses of Regent Terrace where he lived.  Since the plaque was erected further research has indicated that he probably moved in to No 6 in 1824, four years earlier than previously thought.
