16th Century Building

This Green Plaque on No 6 High Street, above what was the Taste of Cornwall, refers to it as being one of Doncaster’s oldest buildings, dating back to the 16th Century.

These buildings are a remarkable survival . They are tiny compared with more modern neighbours yet are 3 storeys high.
The roof is slate and although re roofed some years ago it has probably been slated since Victorian times. Before that it would have been mallion, a type of limestone.  It is possible that it was thatched when first built.

Across the road from 6 High Street is another Green Plaque building which was originally Parkinson's.
