This building was constructed in 1899 on the site of a former circus hall.  Designed by JP.Briggs.   It was a successful theatre but eventually became a bingo hall. It has been largely empty for many years but is Grade 2 listed and has been the subject of a long running campaign by the Friends of the Grand Theatre and others  to bring it back into use.  The current owner wishes to make it a mixed use venue.
